PEACE OF MIND

Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy is a courageous step, and it is completely natural to have questions along the way. Below, you will find answers to common questions about the therapeutic process, scheduling, fees, and what to expect during our time together. If you have a question that isn't covered here, please feel free to reach out directly.

  • Therapy is for anyone who wants to better understand themselves, work through emotional pain, or navigate life with greater ease. You don't need to be in a severe crisis to benefit—many people seek therapy when they feel stuck in recurring patterns, overwhelmed by stress or life transitions, disconnected from loved ones, or simply curious about their own personal growth. If you are experiencing persistent emotional distress, struggling to feel grounded, or feeling that your usual coping mechanisms aren't working as well as they used to, therapy offers a safe, structured space to heal and move forward.

  • While both offer deep personal insight, they differ in their focus and goals:

    • Individual Therapy focuses on your internal world—your personal thoughts, emotions, life history, and individual goals. We look at how past experiences shape your current feelings and behaviors, helping you build self-awareness, process trauma, and develop healthier coping strategies.

    • Couples Therapy focuses on the space between two people—the relationship dynamic. Rather than treating one person as the "problem," therapy views the relationship as the client. We work together to improve communication, resolve recurring conflicts, rebuild trust, and foster deeper emotional and physical intimacy.

  • All therapy and consultation sessions are 100% virtual.  You can join your scheduled appointments from the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or any quiet personal space using a desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Once an appointment is confirmed, you will receive a secure video link to access your session.

  • Yes, absolutely. Your privacy and confidentiality are top priorities.

    • HIPAA-Compliant Platform: All telehealth sessions are held over a secure, encrypted video platform that fully complies with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards to protect your health information.

    • Strict Confidentiality: The same strict legal and ethical privacy standards that apply to traditional in-office therapy apply to online sessions.

    • No Recorded Sessions: Video sessions are live and are never recorded.

  • To ensure maximum privacy on your end during sessions:

    • Choose a quiet, private room with a closed door where you won't be interrupted.

    • Use headphones or earbuds to ensure conversation remains private.

    • Use a secure, private Wi-Fi connection rather than public Wi-Fi networks.

  • For your first consultation, bring any relevant documents related to your case, such as contracts, medical records, or court documents. This helps us understand your situation better and provide accurate advice.

  • A typical session runs 50-minutes, generally once a week but sometimes more frequent depending on individual circumstances.

  • Yes!  Actually all appointments are virtual and available within the state of California, and for clients who reside in Virginia, using a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.  Please reach out via the contact page to set up an appointment.

  • I am an in-network provider with most major insurance plans.
